In armed conflicts, psychological collapse and collective fragmentation are as dangerous as military defeat. The two primary shields against these threats are "social cohesion" and a "hopeful outlook toward the future." The Ramadan War serves as a prominent example of resistance in which religious beliefs were able to produce and reproduce these two elements at the height of crises. However, existing studies have either remained within secular frameworks or merely described events, and none have systematically analyzed the linkage between Shia theological foundations and psychological mechanisms. The aim of this study is to identify and examine these very mediating mechanisms. This qualitative research was conducted using thematic analysis with a deductive-inductive approach. The textual corpus includes the Noble Quran, Nahj al-Balagha, Sahifeh-ye Imam Khomeini, Sahifeh Sajjadiyya, and social psychology theoretical texts (Durkheim, Snyder, Putnam, Pargament, and van Zomeren). The findings of the research comprise four main mechanisms: 1) highlighting a sacred collective identity through ritualistic ceremonies and the concept of Wilayah-Ummah (Leadership-Community); 2) recreating faith-based social capital through norms of self-sacrifice and institutional trust in religious leadership; 3) transforming passive hope into agency hope relying on dynamic trust (Tawakkul) and commitment to the promise of divine victory; and 4) sacredly signifying suffering and death through the narrative of divine trial and the idea of martyrdom. These mechanisms operated in a self-reinforcing cycle. The results indicate that the integration of Shia beliefs with psychological mechanisms produces a type of "sustainable and strategic" solidarity and hope that lacks the fragility of material models, transforming religion from an individual matter into an engine of collective resistance.
